Last Friday, I went to Brunei...

... for a business trip. Talk about timing when I reached Brunei right after the country went through the worst flash flood it ever experienced. On top of that, there was a massive blackout at Gadong(Brunei's main commercial area). Other than that, the business trip still went on pretty smooth and was pretty fruitful. Here are some snapshots from the trip...

Traveled to Brunei by car. It was a long drive that took around 5 hours. A ferry like this has to be boarded to cross a river by car.

We stayed at Brunei Hotel, a very good, decent and affordable hotel to stay in the main city of Bandar Seri Begawan.

The staff at Brunei Hotel are very friendly. Check in was a breeze.

The hotel has its own restaurant called Mawar. It serves simple yet excellent breakfast buffet and a variety of food that is considered to be one of the best in town.

My close friends Wei Chuen and Jacq highly recommended me to visit this Japanese restaurant.

The interior is cozy and attractive. The place is packed when I came in. I was told this happens almost every night.

Star of the show and the reason why I was recommended to come to Excapade. Salmon sashimi! Honestly... THE BEST I EVER TASTED. Really good and fresh.

My staff and I are very satisfied customers.

Thought this shot was interesting. Taken in one of the hotels I visited.

This mosque looked beautiful at night.

One of the souvenirs to buy in Brunei. Contains real Brunei oil. For those who don't know, Brunei's oil is the reason why the country is one of the richest in the world.

Me and Cynthia Bong. She is the manager of Brunei Hotel. A kind, nice and resourceful woman. She made the business trip really fruitful. My staff and I learned a lot from her. Thank you Cynthia!

Thats pretty much the photos I took in Brunei. I was pretty busy there running around here and there. Didn't get much time for sight seeing. Special thanks to my good friend and Cynthia's son Jonathan Bong from Breeze magazine who made this trip possible. Leave you peeps with an interesting conversation my staff had with a man in a shopping mall while looking for Excapade restaurant.

staff: Excuse me sir. Do you know where I can find Excapade restaurant?

man: Sorry, I don't know where that is.

staff: Is there any information counter nearby?

man: What is that?

Ooook....

It is Chinese New Year...

... and the streets of Kota Kinabalu city look quiet. Most shop owners here are Chinese and they close their business during this period. Do I celebrate? Sure. I should be out with my family later and most likely go for a friend's open house tonight. Right now I'm sitting down in the office located in the city doing my overdue course homework. Taking a short break to blog. So why am I in the office? Internet at home is down(adsl modem no longer working) and felt like chillin in the office instead. Anyway, to all you peeps who celebrate...

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Bu Bu Gao Sheng! Learned this from my friend Nging. Means something like "rise to great heights with each step".

p/s: Posting about my Brunei trip last week soon. Kim was kind enough to lend me her digital camera for the trip. Thanks Kim! Btw, she did great during the 1st heat of Miss Oriental Beauty Pageant. Go Kim!

Support Kim Stan...

... this Friday night as she goes through the 1st heat of Miss Oriental Beauty Pageant at D'Junction. Friend, sister and one of the very few people who can brainwash my Hannah to beat up his own dad, Kim has my support along with the rest of her friends and loved ones. Even Hannah wants to watch her in action but too bad the venue is not suitable for her. The pageant starts at 9pm so anybody who can make it, please do support Kim. You can do it Kim! Ganbateh!

Before that, I'll be away for a while for a business trip to Brunei. I'm currently packing up my stuff now for my 6 hour journey by car, which begins tomorrow morning. Will be back on Friday just in time to watch Kim in action. Till then!

The One Ring...

... is part of short stories that I have to write for my current course homework(more on this in another post). So I'm gonna share it with you guys in this post. Its basically about the birth of my daughter.

18.12.2001 - It was just a week before Christmas and I’ll always remember this date for two reasons. It was the world premier date for my all time favorite movie Lord Of The Rings and more importantly the birth of Hannah Nichelle Dinoza. It was on this day that I rushed to the operation theater to watch the birth of my daughter. The moment was during an afternoon and I lacked sleep despite staying overnight at the specialist center to accompany my wife after her water broke. She was sent to the operation theater earlier on since she had issues giving birth naturally. My heart was pumping full of excitement of having my first very own child but also a test of nerves and praying to god hard for the safety of my daughter and wife that they’ll pull through this operation unharmed. I reached the outside of the operation theater and watched the operation in progress through the glass window with my mother in law by my side. As much as I wish they were there too, my own parents couldn’t make it. This was it… The doctor signaled to the rest of the medical staff who was in the operation theater to prepare as he is going pull my daughter out of my wife’s stomach. Using a suction tool, the doctor made his count and pulled my daughter out almost instantly. POP!!! Just like that my daughter was out. I can’t help feeling shocked for a while and wondered “Is that how they really do it??? Isn’t it suppose to be a slow and gentle process?”. But of course I found out later it is a proper and safe process. Shocked feeling aside, I breath a huge sigh of relief as the doctor signaled to me that my daughter and wife are both fine. Later on with my wife by my side on her bed, I held my daughter for the first time. It was the most wonderful feeling to have her in this world. I dreamt about this for so long and to have her in my arms was just simply complete bliss. I know then and before, she will be the love of my life. That pushed me in so many ways to be a better person as I watched her grow up. I was determined more than ever to give her my best love and care. I know that I have to push myself to be better and better because by being a better person, I will have more in me to ensure my daughter have a better life. So on this day, I might have missed the premier of Lord Of The Rings but it was totally worth it because Hannah was ‘The One Ring’ to me. My precious. The experience was life changing. I love you Hannah with all my heart. Daddy is going to make sure you’ll have a good life.

Of course, life for me didn't turn out as good as i hoped after the birth of Hannah. My wife and I divorced 3 years ago and a lot of good and bad has happened since. But Hannah grew up wonderfully with the love from both my ex-wife's and my very own friends and family. My ex-wife herself is happy now with her new found man and if all goes well, Hannah will have her first brother or sister this year. ;-) As for me, i never stopped trying to be a better person. This year alone I find myself spending more quality time with my daughter, which is part of my new year resolution. Most likely I'll be taking her this week to the funfair that is happening in town. Anyone been there yet?

Currently, Hannah loves the song Wow by Kylie Minogue and watches the video below when she gets the chance. Don't ask why because she is even really into watching Australia's Top Model.

Have a good Monday peeps!

Down and frustrated...

... is all I can feel now. All I can say is... Its amazing how a mere presence of a person can screw up a nice moment that I was truly enjoying. Now I'm left wondering what actually went wrong. Ever went through that? So much for a peaceful Sunday. Will be alright. Just need a moment to digest what in the world is going on. Anyway, hope you peeps are having a good Sunday.

Heres a video of a song with a cute tune to just to cheer things up a little.

The best nap...

... was what I had just a while ago. Nothing beats napping in the rain and I know i had a really good one with my eyes wide open and whole self feeling fresh and energized. I napped from 5pm and woke up at 7.30pm. A solid two and a half hours of precious nap. The heavy rain that started earlier in the evening is still going on outside the house till now. I hope my sleep later will be just as satisfying. Its been a while since I had a really good sleep. Having problems lately waking up in the middle of the sleep around 4-5am. Guess theres a lot in my head and even an extreme exhaustion from a long day of activities still couldn't prevent me from waking up during those hours. Thus, I never really had enough sleep for quite some time now and have to make up for it with naps like I just had. Sigh... How I crave for at least 6 hours of peaceful non-stop sleep.

Sleep aside, I went downstairs to watch tv for a while after my nap and stumbled upon one of Take That's live concert on screen. For those who don't know, Take That is basically Europe's answer to the legendary American boy band New Kids On The Block. They're one of the best things that ever came to Europe's music industry. Although I'm not much of a big fan, I do love some of their songs especially one entitled Never Forget. Ironically, that was the exact song that Take That was performing in their live concert as I switched on the tv. So I leave you peeps now with a video of the live performance of Never Forget that I just watched. Keep a lookout for the amazing background special effects that blends in animation and actual performers on stage. Plus, also check out the wonderful lyrics just below the video.

Take That - Never Forget (Live 2007 tour)

Been on this path of life for so long
Feel I've walked a thousand miles
Sometimes strolled hand in hand with love
Everybodys been there
With danger on my mind I would stay on the line of hope
I knew I could make it
Once I knew the boundaries I looked into the clouds and saw
My face in the moonlight
Just then I realised what a fool I could be
Just cause I look so high I dont have to see me
Finding a paradise wasn't easy but still
Theres a road going down the other side of this hill

Never forget where you've come here from
Never pretend that its all real
Someday soon this will be someone elses dream

Been safe from the arms of disappointment for so long
Feel each day we've come too far
Yet each day seems to make much more
Sure is good to be here
I understand the meaning of i cant explain this feeling
Now it feels so unreal
At night I see the hand that reminds me of the stand I make
The fact of reality

Never forget where you've come here from
Never pretend that its all real
Someday soon this will be someone elses dream

We've come so far and we've reached so high
And we've looked each day and night in the eye
And we're still so young and we hope for more
But remember this
We're not invincible, we're not invincible - no
We're only people, we're only people
Hey we're not invincible, we're not invincible
So again I'll tell you

Never forget where you've come here from
Never pretend that its all real
Someday soon this will be someone elses dream

So never forget peeps. Hope you all had a great weekend. :-)

LUMIX DMC-LX3...

... is the high end digital camera that I'm aiming to get for my everyday use in case an interesting opportunity to shoot a photo or video arises. Originally I was aiming to get a Canon G9 but I wanted to try something of the same range that is different and better. Enter LUMIX DMC-LX3 or LX3 for short. Check out the following videos to see why I chose the LX3.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 Digital Camera by JR.com - a quick look at what is cool about the LX3

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 review by cameralabs.com - a more detailed and technical explanation about LX3 features

Still want to learn more about LX3? Check out the complete review by cameralabs.com here ---> http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_LX3/index.shtml

*fingers crossed* Hope to get the LX3 by this month. Its not the best out there especially with the release of Canon G10 but it suits my taste at the moment and the price is pretty affordable. Its the next best thing until I actually get myself a new DSLR camera or HD video camera. The later is not gonna happen so soon. For now, I'll just take photos from the web, get some from friends and also recycle old photos for my blog posts. Can't wait to get my hands on the LX3!

p/s: Fara! Kenji will have a buddy soon! ;-)

Goodbye IT Station...

... for I'll be missing this small IT retail shop of mine a lot. After sitting down and having a long discussion with my partner Patsy last week, we finally decided to close down IT Station. Born two years ago, IT Station was one of the side business that I invested on. I loved this shop a lot. Although I wasn't there every single day, it was my part of my heart and soul. It had quite a number of happy loyal based customers and it was one of the very few shops that actually brought in original games. Despite the numerous efforts to promote IT Station, it was finally time for it to close down. Why close down? Sometimes it is best to surrender to reality to avoid a worse future. The economy this year is bad and the much larger supplier/retail company will eventually have a much better chance of surviving compared to my tiny little shop. Plus, these large companies purchase large amount of stock items and sell them at prices lower than the cost prices of smaller shops like mine. Key phrase 'lower that our own cost price'. With that said, it is merely a losing battle in an already much crowded IT retail market.

Enough talk. Bottom line, Patsy and I has made our decision and its for the best. Right now we're concentrating on our closing sale, which will last till the 15th of this month. One more week to go. So if any of you peeps are interested, please check out IT Station(2nd floor, Kompleks Asia City) during this closing sale period. We're selling PC and accessories(keyboard, mouse, headset, etc) at low prices. Here are the pc set on sale:

PC set offers --->

AMD Sempron 1200+ Set RM880

AMD Athlon x2 4800+ Set RM1,000.00

AMD Athlon x2 5200+ Set RM1,050.00

All sets come with DVD Writer, 2GB DDR2 Memory, 160GB SATA Hard Drive, Speakers, Keyboard, Optical Mouse.

16" ACER LCD Monitor RM430.00

17" ACER LCD Monitor RM490.00

Thus, the closing down of IT Station is somewhat a setback to the beginning of my 2009. But as mentioned, its for the best. Better quit now then suffer more...

Back at blogging...

... it seems for me. After I stopped updating my old personal blog for like a year or so, I'm finally back at it. Hope this time, I won't stop again. I love blogging. There is so much for me to blog about what I've seen and experienced. Perhaps the only real problem for me now is to get a good digital camera that shoots both photo and video for blogging purposes. Forget slr cameras as it will take quite a long while for me to save money to get one. Plus, the fact that my precious video camera recently broke down pretty much means I'm not getting a new one anytime soon. I can't repair the one that broke down and like getting a slr camera, it will be too costly and too much of a wait to get a new one. Whatever it is, I'm just glad I'm back at blogging again.

p/s : Check out my only other blog that is still updated till this day... impedius - http://dinoza.lifeinborneo.com/

2009. Thus life begins again...

... as i felt I am somewhat reborn. After a series of good and bad, its time for me to start and build a brand new life. Talk about perfect timing as 2009 is finally here. I have big aims this year that will contribute the tales to be told in this blog. I realized all this while i have missed out a lot in life and there is so much i need to achieve. It won't be an easy path but I can tell you peeps this... I am a much better person now than I am before and this time I will go through whatever it is coming to me with a strong heart. For myself, my daughter and my loved ones. Bring it on!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU! WISHING YOU ALL A GREAT LIFE AHEAD! :-)
